CEMETERY COMMITTEE

The guidelines of the Cemetery Committee have been updated and starting July 2014 there should be reports made to the council every half year, in January and July. According to the updated By-laws: The Cemetery Committee is to supply a written report to the Parish Council and Finance Committee accounting for:

1. The overall financial situation of the parish cemetery including:
   1. Income and expenses during the previous six months.
   2. Projected expenses for the coming six months.
   3. How much money the Committee has available to it in checking, savings and investments.
2. The general condition of the cemetery and if any improvements are needed or contemplated.
3. Any Cemetery related problems that need to be brought to the attention of the Pastor and parish Finance Committee.
4. What they, the Cemetery Committee, determine to be the cost of cemetery lots for the coming six months. This information should then be published in the Sunday bulletin for the benefit of those interested in purchasing a lot.
5. In this same report, the members of the Committee are to certify that the permanent cemetery records are being kept up todate. These permanent records include both the burial register which tracks the name, birth date, death date, and exact location of each grave and also the map of the cemetery. These permanent records and map should be kept in a safe, waterproof, fireproof place and updated after every burial.

All of this information is to be put into writing and signed by the members of the Cemetery Committee and then submitted to the January/July meeting of the Parish Finance Committee.

6. At every January meeting of the Cemetery Committee, these Guidelines for the operation of the Committee should be read out loud and reviewed.

If any revisions are wanted, they need to be approved by the Parish Finance Committee.
The Cemetery Committee is continuing to charge $300 for a grave site with the payment of an additional $300 at the time the grave is dug.
